Making the Cut: Apple & Grape Pruning Workshops

Making the Cut:
2026 Apple & Grape Pruning Workshops
Join the UW-Madison Extension Horticulture Program for a live, hands-on apple and/or grape pruning workshop, with multiple locations across the state.
Making the Cut: Apple and Grape Pruning covers basic tree (and/or vine) physiology for participants, demonstrates the pruning decision-making process, and provides training on proper pruning techniques.
Learn the step-by-step process for pruning fruit trees and grape vines in your yard, garden, and even indoors. This workshop introduces the proper pruning techniques in an easy-to-understand way. Anyone who is interested in growing tree fruit and/or grapes, regardless of skill level, is invited to register.
At the end of the workshop, you will:
- Understand why pruning is important for tree/vine health
- Become more comfortable in selecting branches/vines to remove while pruning
- Practice making the cut using proper pruning techniques and tools!
