Making the Cut: Apple & Grape Pruning Workshops

Making the Cut:

Apple & Grape Pruning Workshops

Join the UW-Madison Extension Horticulture Program for a live, hands-on apple and/or grape pruning workshop, with multiple locations across the state.

Making the Cut: Apple and Grape Pruning covers basic tree (and/or vine) physiology for participants, demonstrates the pruning decision-making process, and provides training on proper pruning techniques.

Learn the step-by-step process for pruning fruit trees and grape vines in your yard, garden, and even indoors. This workshop introduces the proper pruning techniques in an easy-to-understand way. Anyone who is interested in growing tree fruit and/or grapes, regardless of skill level, is invited to register.

At the end of the workshop, you will:

  • Understand why pruning is important for tree/vine health
  • Become more comfortable in selecting branches/vines to remove while pruning
  • Practice making the cut using proper pruning techniques and tools!

Workshop Locations

Making the Cut: Apple and Grape Pruning workshops are held annually between February and April. Registration is first-come-first-served and will be capped at 30 individuals per workshop. If you would like to be notified of future courses, subscribe to the UW-Madison Extension Horticulture monthly newsletter for timely gardening tips, upcoming educational opportunities, and other horticulture news.
