Growing Fruit in Wisconsin

Apples have been grown in Wisconsin for over 150 years, but they certainly aren’t the only fruit crop you can grow in your home garden. Consider the juicy gooseberry, the ‘luscious’ pear, the sweet strawberry, and of course, the ever popular raspberry. Try them all, but read first to make sure you have the right soil, sun and winter conditions for each fruit. Select cultivars for your growing area, and learn how to plant correctly for successful harvest. You can find out how to do that here, and much more. Contact your local county UW-Extension office for further information.
